Transcend TW2Y10100 Timex drops the crystals and £25
The Transcend TW2Y10100 is a slim 34 mm quartz dress watch with a textured aquamarine dial and a sliding mesh bracelet, at an RRP of £85. It suits anyone after a small, light, colourful everyday watch with no fuss. The catch: a brass case, mineral crystal and 30 m rating, where Accurist offers steel and sapphire for £14 more.

The short version
Timex has stripped the crystal-set bezel off its Transcend, swapped in a textured blue-green dial and cut the price to £85. The result is plainer, lighter and closer to a true everyday dress watch.
What is new about the Transcend TW2Y10100?
The Transcend is Timex's long-running small dress watch, a simple round case with a clean dial and a mesh bracelet. The best-known version on the Timex UK site, the TW2W19100, dresses it up with a crystal-encrusted bezel and crystal markers, and sells for £110. The TW2Y10100 is the spring 2025 update, and it goes the other way. Timex describes it as a "fresh update" with a beautifully textured aquamarine dial, a polished case and minimalist raised markers. The bezel is plain polished metal, and the RRP drops to £85.
There is a sister model, the TW2Y10200, which pairs a textured silver-white dial with a gold-tone mesh bracelet at the same price. This first look covers the aquamarine version, which is the more distinctive of the two.
How big is it, and how will it wear?
Timex lists the case at 34 mm across and 7 mm tall, with a watch weight of 45.51 g including the bracelet. That is a small, flat watch by any modern standard. On a slim wrist it will sit neatly under a cuff, and on a larger wrist it will read as a deliberately compact dress piece rather than a statement.
The bracelet is 16 mm wide. Timex says it adjusts to fit wrists from 135 mm to 190 mm, which covers most adult wrists without a jeweller's visit. Adjustment is by a sliding clasp on the mesh, rather than removing links, so you can fine-tune the fit yourself in a few seconds once you get the knack.
The 34 mm size is labelled as a women's watch on the Timex site, but nothing about the design is fussy. A 34 mm case with a plain bezel will also suit anyone who likes small vintage-sized watches.
What movement does it use, and how accurate is it?
It runs on a quartz analogue movement powered by an SR616SW silver oxide battery. Timex does not publish a calibre name or a monthly accuracy figure for this model, so we cannot quote one. Quartz of this type is normally accurate to within seconds a week, which is far tighter than any mechanical watch at this price, and battery changes are cheap and quick at any high street repairer.
There is no date window, no seconds sub-dial and no lume listed. This is a time-only watch, which suits the dress brief and keeps the dial clean.
How well is it built?
This is where the price shows. Timex lists the case material as low lead brass with a polished silver-tone finish, rather than stainless steel. Brass cases are common at this level and are fine for indoor wear, but plating on brass can wear through at the edges over years of daily use.
The crystal is mineral glass. Timex itself notes that mineral is harder than acrylic but can still scratch, and that scratches cannot be polished out. Water resistance is 30 m, which Timex says means hand-washing and splashes only. Do not swim in it.
The bracelet is stainless steel mesh. Owners of the earlier crystal-bezel Transcend praise the look but report that the sliding clasp can be stiff and fiddly to set the first time, then stays secure once done.
Is it good value against its rivals?
At £85 it is cheaper than its own crystal-set sibling, the Transcend TW2W19100 at £110, and the only real loss is the sparkle. If you wanted a quieter Transcend, this is the one to pick.
The more awkward rival is the Accurist Everyday 74008. Accurist lists it at an RRP of £99 with a 36 mm stainless steel case, a Cambridge blue sunray dial, sapphire crystal, a date window and 50 m water resistance. For £14 more you get a steel case and a crystal that is far harder to scratch. The Accurist is slightly larger and has a date, so it is less of a pure dress watch, but on materials it is ahead.
The Timex wins on weight, on the easy sliding fit of the mesh, and on that textured aquamarine dial, which has more personality than most watches in this band.
What is the catch?
The materials. A brass case, mineral glass and a splash-only 30 m rating are all acceptable at £85, but they mean this is a watch for dry days and smart occasions, not for the gym or the beach. If you plan to wear one watch every day for years, a steel and sapphire rival is the safer long-term buy.
The other point to weigh is size. At 34 mm it is small, and that is the whole idea. If you usually wear 38 mm or more, try a similar size on before you commit.
“The quiet Transcend: no crystals, a better dial and £25 back in your pocket.”
