Amazfit Bip 6 an AMOLED screen and metal frame for the budget Bip
The Bip 6 is Amazfit's £79.90 everyday smartwatch, with a bright 1.97 inch AMOLED screen, an aluminium frame, GPS with free offline maps and up to 14 days of quoted battery life. It suits first-time smartwatch buyers and casual runners who want long battery over apps. The catch: no NFC listed, no music streaming, and iPhone owners cannot reply to messages.

The short version
Amazfit's cheapest full smartwatch now has an AMOLED screen and a metal frame. The Bip 6 looks like a far pricier watch, so the question is what it leaves out.
What is new about the Amazfit Bip 6?
The Bip has always been Amazfit's cheap and cheerful line, and the Bip 6 is the version that stops looking cheap. Amazfit announced it on 31 March 2025, and the UK RRP is £79.90, which is actually a step up from the Bip 5's current £69 listing but buys a lot more watch.
The headline change is the screen. The Bip 5 used an LCD panel; the Bip 6 moves to a 1.97 inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 390 x 450 and a quoted peak brightness of 2,000 nits. The frame is now aluminium alloy rather than all plastic. Amazfit has also added free downloadable maps with turn-by-turn directions, Bluetooth calling through a built-in microphone and speaker, and its Zepp Flow voice assistant.
On the fitness side, Amazfit lists more than 140 activity modes, including a dedicated HYROX Race mode and Smart Strength Training, which Amazfit says can recognise 25 exercises automatically. Sleep, heart rate, blood oxygen, stress and HRV are tracked by the BioTracker PPG sensor, and the Zepp app adds a daily readiness score.
How big is it, and how will it wear?
Amazfit sells it as a 46 mm watch. Its own specification gives the case as 46.3 x 40.2 x 10.45 mm, measured without the sensor base, so the 46.3 mm figure is the top to bottom length and the case is 40.2 mm wide. That is a large rectangle, close in footprint to the bigger Apple Watch sizes, but at 10.45 mm thick and 27.9 g without the strap it should sit flat and feel light.
The standard strap is liquid silicone, 22 mm wide, with a classic pin buckle, and Amazfit says it fits wrists from 130 to 195 mm. Because it uses standard quick-release widths, swapping to a nylon or leather strap is easy. TechRadar's Paul Hatton, writing after two months with it, found the tuck-in strap a little awkward to fasten consistently, so a different strap may be the first upgrade some owners make.
What does it run on, and how long does the battery last?
This is a smartwatch, so there is no movement in the traditional sense. It runs Amazfit's own Zepp OS rather than Wear OS, which is the main reason the battery claims are so long. Amazfit quotes up to 14 days in typical use from the 340 mAh cell, up to 6 days in heavy use, up to 26 days in battery saver mode and up to 32 hours of continuous GPS.
Positioning uses five satellite systems, but it is single-band GPS, not the dual-band set-up found on Amazfit's pricier running watches. TechRadar still describes its tracking as accurate. Tom's Guide compared its sleep data with an Oura Ring 3 and found the two closely matched, and reported the battery dropping by only 1% to 3% a night.
How well is it built?
The build is the surprise at this price. The frame is aluminium alloy, the case body is fibre-reinforced polymer and the display sits under tempered glass with an anti-fingerprint coating. There are two buttons on the right and no rotating crown, so most navigation is by swipe and tap.
Water resistance is 5 ATM, which Amazfit says is suitable for splashes, showering and swimming, backed by third-party SGS testing. It is not a dive watch, and Amazfit advises against hot showers, saunas and high-speed water sports. The charger is a magnetic puck supplied without a cable, which Amazfit presents as a waste-reduction choice; you supply your own USB lead.
Is it good value against its rivals?
At £79.90, the Bip 6 undercuts most of its obvious rivals. The closest in-house alternative is the Amazfit Active 2, listed on Amazfit UK at £99.90 for the silicone version. It adds a round case and a slightly more premium feel, but the Bip 6 has the bigger screen and longer quoted battery life for £20 less.
From outside the brand, the Xiaomi Redmi Watch 5 is the natural comparison. Xiaomi's UK site lists it at £89.99, with a similar large rectangular AMOLED screen and long battery claims, but the Bip 6 adds offline maps and a more developed training app. For anyone who just wants notifications, sleep tracking and GPS runs without spending Apple or Garmin money, the Bip 6 is hard to argue with.
What is the catch?
There are a few. Amazfit's UK specification does not list NFC, so don't count on contactless payments from the wrist; for that you need the Active 2 Premium version. Message replies by keyboard or voice are an Android feature: Tom's Guide notes that iPhone owners can read notifications but cannot reply from the watch.
Music support is basic. Amazfit lists phone music control, but Tom's Guide points out there is no Spotify or similar streaming app. The deeper wellness reports sit behind Zepp Aura, a paid subscription that both TechRadar and Tom's Guide flag. And the lack of a crown means scrolling long workout lists by touch, which TechRadar missed.
None of these are deal-breakers at the RRP, but they mark the line between a very good budget watch and a premium one.
“The Bip 6 is the version that stops looking cheap.”
