Bip Max Amazfit's budget watch gets a bigger screen and 4 GB
The Bip Max is Amazfit's new £99.90 fitness smartwatch, with a 2.07 inch AMOLED screen, built-in GPS, offline maps and up to 20 days of battery. It suits new runners and gym-goers who want proper training tools without paying £200. The catch: it is a big, squarish watch, and Amazfit's own Bip 6 does most of the same for £20 less.

The short version
Amazfit has added a larger, brighter and longer-lasting model above the Bip 6 rather than replacing it. The question is whether the extra screen, storage and battery justify a £99.90 RRP.
What is new about the Amazfit Bip Max?
The Bip Max is a new model rather than a replacement. Amazfit launched it in May 2026, a little over a year after the Bip 6, and kept the Bip 6 on sale at its £79.90 RRP. The Max sits just above it at £99.90 on Amazfit's UK store, in Silver, Dark Blue and Carbon Grey. TOUR magazine reported that silver came first, with the dark blue and grey versions following later.
The changes are about size and stamina. The screen grows from the Bip 6's 1.97 inches to 2.07 inches, and Amazfit quotes peak brightness of up to 3,000 nits against 2,000 nits for the Bip 6. The battery grows from 340 mAh to 550 mAh, which lifts Amazfit's typical-use figure from 14 days to 20. There is also 4 GB of storage for offline maps, music and podcasts. The software is Zepp OS 5.0, according to TOUR magazine.
How big is it, and how will it wear?
This is not a small watch. Amazfit lists the case at 42.76 mm wide and 49.58 mm tall, and 10.93 mm thick, or 13.24 mm including the heart rate sensor bump. With the strap it weighs 52.6 g.
The shape is a rounded rectangle, much like an Apple Watch or a Redmi Watch. On a wrist under about 16 cm it will look large, and the sensor bump adds to how far it sits off the arm. The strap is 22 mm liquid silicone with a normal pin buckle, so replacements are easy to find.
What does it track, and how good is the battery?
Amazfit lists more than 150 sports modes, including dedicated HYROX race and training modes, and automatic recognition of 25 strength exercises. It tracks heart rate, blood oxygen and stress around the clock, with sleep stages and Amazfit's BioCharge energy score. Zepp Coach can build training plans, and workouts sync to Strava, TrainingPeaks, komoot and Apple Health, among others.
For navigation there are free downloadable maps with turn-by-turn directions. Positioning uses five satellite systems. Amazfit quotes up to 20 days in typical use, 10 days in heavy use, 7 days with the always-on display, and 40 hours of continuous GPS. Those are the brand's figures, and real results depend on how many features you leave switched on.
How well is it built?
The frame is aluminium alloy around a plastic case, with tempered glass and an anti-fingerprint coating on top. Water resistance is 5 ATM (50 m), and Amazfit lists pool and open water swimming modes, so swimming is fine. There is a speaker and microphone for Bluetooth calls from your phone.
One small point: the box contains a magnetic charging head but no cable. Amazfit points out that many people already have a spare USB-C lead. If you don't, budget for one.
Is it good value against its rivals?
The obvious rival is Amazfit's own Bip 6 at £79.90. For £20 less you get a smaller 1.97 inch AMOLED screen, up to 14 days of battery and 32 hours of GPS, with the same core health tracking, maps and calling. If battery and a bigger screen don't matter much, the Bip 6 is the better buy.
The other is the Xiaomi Redmi Watch 6, which Tech Advisor reported launched at an RRP of £104.99. According to Tech Advisor it has the same 2.07 inch screen size, an aluminium frame, a slimmer 9.9 mm body and a claimed 24 days of light use. At £99.90, the Bip Max sits just below it on price and well above the Bip 6.
What is the catch?
The first catch is size. With a case almost 50 mm tall and a 13 mm thickness including the sensor, it is a lot of watch for slim wrists. The second is that the Bip 6 already covers most of the same features for less money. The third is that it is too new for meaningful owner feedback, so long-term battery life, GPS accuracy and software reliability are still unproven. We will add owner themes when there are enough to report.
“A bigger screen and an extra week of battery for £20 more than the Bip 6.”
